How Climate Change Affects Your Well – Quantity and Quality?

It takes years for surface water to become groundwater, through a process called transmissivity.This is water seeping through layers of soil and clay at the rate of only about 10 feet per year. Short “dry spells” won’t impact the volume of groundwater.
Extended periods of dry weather will reduce groundwater levels, in turn causing wells to have less water than they normally would. Shallow wells may struggle to keep up with household demand. Less groundwater can sometimes concentrate naturally occurring minerals or contaminants, impacting the quality and taste of your water.

Hurricanes and Heavy Rainstorms: Too Much Water Causes Problems
Heavy rains, hurricanes, and flooding can allow surface water to enter a well if it isn't adequately sealed.
